class announcement

journalclass_400x376

I’m teaching a new class in 2016! Join me on January 23 from 1-3 pm at The Robin’s Nest in Boonsboro, Maryland for an art journaling class and trunk show. Register here.

A new year is a great time to start a journal. But if you find words just aren’t enough, then an art journal might be the right medium for you. An art journal combines written words, sketching, collage, quotes, painted pages and more. It’s whatever you want it to be and is the perfect place to try new art techniques while keeping a record of your life. Some days you might just want to draw or paste, others you may want to write and still others you may do both and more. An art journal is a place to play and I’ll share with you my favorite tips and tricks to help you get started. All materials provided, including a small handmade journal (but feel free to bring your own if you prefer to work in it). A special selection of ephemera and vintage products will be available for purchase before and after class. Come celebrate your creative journey!

Interview with V of A

VofA_940x258

Today was the interview with Voice of America! A wonderful reporter and cameraman are telling my coloring book, art and branding story. Interviews, photos, video clips. Wow. So happy to have friends Hillary Stevenson Tattersall (as business advisor) and Suzanne Jackson (as customer) here to help tell the story. 3 minute documentary style piece will air hopefully in early to mid-January. I’ll let you know! ‪#‎celebratingthecreativejourneyinabigway‬

Tidying up for V of A

studio_pic

In less than 12 hours, a reporter from Voice of America television is coming to interview me (me!) about the coloring journal. She saw an article about it in a local paper and thought it would make a good TV story. Such an exciting event called for tidying up the studio. People will need a place to stand after all. Now you can actually see the floor! #celebratingthecreativejourney

Yule love this pillow

yule_log_pillow_wideA few years ago I got this idea, and finally found the perfect supplies I needed to create my vision. Now this darling little yule log pillow is available for purchase. Created with new materials, it is priced at $36, comes in “birch” or “maple” and can be found in the shop here. This item is no longer available.

Somerset Life Spool Trees

Spool trees are now available in the store! Made with fabric, twigs, vintage sheet music and spools, these are the trees that were published in Somerset Life a few years ago. Several different designs are available this year. Order your very own tree here! This item will be available again in November 2016

Snowmen are here!

wide-snowman-picSuper excited to announce that the 2015 Snowman Collection is now available online! Several years ago, I began making little snowman friends using discarded jars, vintage trims, broken jewelry findings, buttons and beads, old book pages and lots of sparkle. They have become one of my most popular products and customers look forward to adding a new one (or more!) to their collection every year. Each piece continues to be made with joy, and as a result, I believe each figure is infused with a great deal of happiness. I made 200 this year. Find yours here!

Happy Thanksgiving

Thankful for friends, family, opportunities and an abundance of blessings this year. Sending out Happy Thanksgiving Day wishes to all!

It’s that time of year

11-1-SNOWMAN_2

I make stuff. Let me rephrase that. I love to make stuff. Especially at this time of year. I’m a vendor at three shows this holiday season, plus I’m providing product for a darling new nearby shop. In October, I started making my snowmen. I’ve made these for about five years. Each one is unique and is adorned with vintage finds. These snowmen have become little collectibles; customers like to buy one or two each year to add to their collection. To give some perspective, the first year I offered them, I made about 20. This year I made 200. Like I said, I love to make stuff.

Hello there!

pennants-for-blogWelcome to the Jubilee Flea blog! I’m Trina Lucido, artist + owner of Jubilee Flea, a curated online store filled with vintage finds for the artist, journaler, collector + user of vintage things.

My journey began in a small town in Ohio where I was a math nerd who loved to create + visit her grandma whose house was filled with Goodwill treasures. She could’ve been a star on that hoarders show. One day I realized I loved creating more than numbers and went to art school. That changed my world.

Now I spend my days collecting, selling + using vintage finds in my artwork + journals.

In this blog, I’ll share thoughts and ideas about art and creativity. I’ll invite you into my studio and bring you along on my travels and junking adventures. I’ll announce new projects and show dates, share tips, talk about art journaling and classes, plus so much more. Together, we’ll celebrate the creative journey!

Thanks for stopping by … now go shop!
-Trina, artist + chief finder

PS – If you found me by way of The Paper Flea Market, hooray! It became Jubilee Flea on July 1, 2015.
